Not sure what route you want to do when you leave? Well don't worry, you can choose more than one option and decide later on in the year which route you want to do. Here is some useful information to help you along the way: Are you wanting to stay in full-time education? If so then further education such as school sixth forms, sixth form colleges or college are more suited to you. Are you wanting to start earning some money but also work towards a qualification at the same time? Then an apprenticeship would be more suited to you. Do you have a specific course or specific subjects you are wanting to study or keen to try something new? If you have a career path in mind and wanting to go onto University, do you have to study particular subjects/courses? Make sure you go along to open events to find out more information, speak to the tutors there and have a look around. Remember to look at all your options before ruling them out. The more information you have, the more able you are to make a decision. If you are wanting to stay in full-time education, then most providers put a deadline on receiving applications. This varies for each provider but generally, we say you need to get your applications completed and submitted by Christmas or soon after. If you want to go out and work, then visit the Careers Advice Library for more information about job hunting, interviews etc. You can find information about the options open to you in the Careers Office which you can access at break and lunch, via help you choose and you can also arrange a meeting with a Careers Advisor in school, please visit the Contact Us page, accessible via the header, for times and availability. |
