These pages give lots of useful information about how we manage the transition for pupils moving from junior school to Sprowston Community High and what pupils can expect when they get here.

Visit the About Us section for information on the Sprowston Community High uniform requirements.

Differences between Junior School and High School

  • The school site is large and pupils will need to move around independently.
  • New rules to learn.
  • A full and new school uniform.
  • Pupils will have many different teachers rather than just one or two.
  • Pupils will move from room to room for different lessons.
  • Pupils will be expected to carry bags and equipment from lesson to lesson, and possibly store their belongings in a locker.
  • Pupils will have a two-week timetable outlining subjects and lessons.
  • Pupils will be responsible for a journal to record homework and letters.
  • Pupils may have lessons that they have not done at Junior School before such as French, German or Spanish.
  • Pupils may have to travel further to get to High School - perhaps travel by bus.
  • Pupils will have to be more independent at breaks and lunchtimes.
  • Pupils will become more self-organised and independent.
