Support through the Transition Process
There are many different ways in which children and parents will be supported through this transition period from Junior Schools to High School. Listed below are just some of those ways.
- Open evenings in October.
- Preliminary visits to Junior Schools have taken place in November.
- Induction Day held at Sprowston Community High School. On Friday 8 July your child will attend the high school for the full day to experience school life, meet their new form tutor and fellow tutees.
- Head of Year to visit Junior Schools in the summer term to discuss Sprowston Community High School and answer student questions.
- Parents evening to meet the form tutor on Wednesday 30 June.
- Worry box to be placed in Junior Schools to answer questions or worries.
- Junior school students will receive a guide written by Sprowston Community High School students about the school.
- Parent information packs to be distributed by the Junior Schools.
- Junior School assemblies and PSHE work to support transition.
- Eaton Vale trips in September for the new intake year (see below).
- Bullying Awareness Day in November.
Bramley Lakes & Whitlingham Broad Trips

This is an excellent trip and experience for every new child to have. They spend the day with their form group and tutor and complete a range of challenging and fun activities.
These activities are run by the staff from the activity centres who are all fully qualified. They encourage team building skills and allow students to experience things that they may not have previously done. It also allows students to get to know their fellow students and start that important relationship with their form tutor.
