Sport Results - District X-Country Championships

The District X – Country Championships were held at Thorpe St Andrew on Wednesday 19 January. Sprowston runners performed with determination on a very long course, they all finished well up the field. In a combined field of Year 8 and 9 runners our students performed brilliantly particularly Ellie Girling and Chloe Higgenbottam who narrowly missed selection.

Huge congratulations must go to Shanice Sutton who was 3rd in the Year 7 girl’s race, Laurie Blyth 2nd and Simon Woolard 4th in junior boys.

This meant all three qualified to represent the Norwich district at Sloughbottam Park. Shanice had to miss the event but clearly has the talent to do well in the future. On a very challenging course both Laurie and Simon ran superbly well... Laurie 6th and Simon 11th.

Both boys have qualified to represent Norfolk schools on Saturday 5 February at Corby.

Sports Results - Cross Country County Championships

Well done to Simon Woollard (Year 9) and Larwy Blythe (Year 8) for being selected to represent Norfolk at the Regional Cross Country Championships in Corby next weekend. Simon was selected after finishing 11th at the County Championships and Lawry finished in 8th. Both boys planned their races carefully and their hard work was rewarded with well deserved success.

Norwich District Cross Country Championships - Students to Represent Region

Sprowston Community High School recently took 31 pupils the Norwich district cross country championships and had more pupils volunteering to go than space on the buses. All pupils who went gave their best and displayed excellent attitude and behaviour throughout.

Two students have qualified to represent the region:

• Simon Woolard, 8HO
• Edward Pearce, 8CL

Poppy Shorten, 7SC may also be selected.

We have to wait to receive overall team results but think we may have done well in the Year7 girls and Year 8 & 9 boys.
