Listening to Parent in Key Stage 3 - Some Feedback
Tuesday, 08 June 2010 00:00
I wish to take the opportunity of thanking you for your help this year in reviewing the way we work with our students and with you at Key stage 3.
Your response through questionnaires and focus groups has been positive overall but you have indicated where we can do even better. These comments have given rise to a number of action points which will help us in our planning for the next academic year.
The data relating to the individual questionnaires is published with this article and can be downloaded below.
Comments on the Transition to High School
- You enjoyed our Open Evening and found the staff and students both helpful and friendly.
- The majority of comments showed you also found our prefects helpful and good ambassadors for the school.
- Download the Transition Questionnaire 2009 results.
Action Points:
- We will ensure that we use microphones in the hall for September 2010 to ensure that those parents at the back of the hall hear all that is said.
- We will try to give you a clear idea of lunch costs and a typical menu on Intake Evening.
- We will try to inform parents about our curriculum and the homework that is set.
Parents’ Evening
- Thank you for an overwhelmingly positive review of our school. The majority of you said that your child is happy in school.
- You are impressed by the commitment of staff; the range of subjects on offer to students and the Performance Arts status.
- Download the Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 questionnaire results.
Our behaviour was judged to be Good by Ofsted in December.
We are not complacent about this, however and I know you would not expect us to be. You want us to be vigilant and to maintain high standards of behaviour in all classrooms.
We will be.
Action Points:
- We will continue to review the way we communicate with you about your child.
- We will continue to develop the range of after school activities available for your child.
- We will continue to monitor behaviour closely.
- We will continue to try to improve lunchtime facilities for students.
Preference Process
Two tutor groups were targeted for this feedback as we had already asked you to complete a questionnaire on Parents’Evening.
- The replies we had, indicated that the preference booklet was helpful but that the range of subjects on offer as well as the range of qualifications available did mean that there was a lot to consider and understand.
- However, you were pleased with the support your child was given in making choices.
- Download the preferences feedback results.
Action Point:
- We will look again at the booklet and the option form for 2011.
