Class of 2010
Year 11 Prize Winners Tea
Monday, 06 December 2010 10:43
We had a wonderful evening on Tuesday 9th November celebrating the achievements of our ex Year 11 students. I was so proud to be part of the event, giving out awards to our students along with Andrew John, Liz Wood, Helen Watts, Elaine Nicklin and Dawn Adams. The Prize Winners Tea is an opportunity for us to look back at the achievements of our ex Year 11 students and celebrate with them all that they gained during their time with us.

We had over 50 Sprowston Scholars, who achieved 8 grades A*-B (excluding short courses). We were also able to present a number of special awards to students who worked well within the different subject areas.

Each faculty awarded runners up and winners awards for students. It was a great opportunity for us to catch up with our ex students and discuss what they are doing now, as well as congratulate them again for their excellent effort. I was so proud to be their Head of Year throughout Year 11 and the Prize Winners Tea was the perfect way to say thank, well done and goodbye.
With many thanks to all those students, teachers and parent/carers who came along to the evening. And a special thank you to Julie Hansell for her exceptional organisation.

Nearly There Year 11!
Tuesday, 25 May 2010 09:48
As we approach the end of term (and the end of school life for Year 11s) I would like to say a massive thank you to all those parents, guardians and carers who have supported us over the last year. I feel the year group has come so far since September and I am really proud of them.
There are lots of things to look forward to over the next month – but also a lot of hard work to do first! As a year group they have shown great maturity during the recent difficult time in school – I look forward to all of them maintaining this over the short time they have left and achieving the very best they can in their exams.

Year 11 Prom Committee - An Update
Tuesday, 25 May 2010 09:47
The Talent Show organised by the Prom Committee was an enormous success – raising Year 11 enough money so we do not have to charge for entry to the Prom. Lots of Year 11s helped out at that event – but special thanks must go to Jack Wootton who yet again provided all the music and equipment for the evening – beyond the call of duty! May I also thank Mr Utting, Ms Cook and Ms Byles for their help and support on the night. We raised over £400!
Year 11 Leavers Assembly
Tuesday, 25 May 2010 09:45
Another date for our diaries is 25th June at 1.45 pm, this marks our Leavers Assembly for 2010. This is a time to reflect on achievements and memories and to thank our students and tutors for all of their hard work. I have already had numerous offers from students to perform at the assembly – yet again Year 11 students have amazed me by showing their enthusiasm and support.
Year 11 Prom - A Reminder
Tuesday, 25 May 2010 09:44
Can I please remind all students that there will be no access to the prom on 24th July without an invitation – this can only be handed to the student after submission of a parental consent form. All forms are to be put into the Prom Permission Slip Box, in the year office as soon as possible.
Year 11 Exam Season is Underway
Tuesday, 25 May 2010 09:39
The exam period is up and running – and the students have been fantastic. I am conscious it can be a stressful time for our Year 11s, and I would encourage them to speak their tutor or subject teachers about any concerns that they have.
Preparation and Revision
The key to doing well this summer is to prepare fully and revise. We have offered the students a variety of revision sessions and classes that they must fully engage with. Each student has a revision timetable and should be checking where they are and when. Students should be in normal classes if they are not in an exam or revision session. Year 11 students will officially start external study leave on 10th June – so their last day in school will be 9th June. We will be handing out Year Books and Hoodies over the next week – so attending form is more important than ever.
Mrs Nicklin and I have told the students that they are able to wear non-uniform until they leave as a sign of thanks for the hard work our students are putting in. We have said, however, that we would like our Year 11s to still pay for the charity days we have – namely the Big C Charity Fund Raising Day on Friday 28th May, as they are still very much part of our school community.

Year 11 Waypoint Course
Wednesday, 05 May 2010 07:54
We ran another highly successful Waypoint course over the Easter holidays. The students who gave up their holiday time were fantastic and have achieved great things from their key skills course already. This is the second cohort of students I have put through the course as it was highly successfully the first time around. It is run by an excellent group of trainers – Skills Force. During the week we had a visit from David Cameron on his election campaign. The visit went very well – our students were magnificent – I could not have been more proud of them.
Can I thank our premises team who worked tirelessly all week in preparation (as they always do). Special thanks must also go to Ms Wood. She supports me and the whole of Year 11 every step of the way and worked extremely hard in setting up the course and visit during Easter. The students are extremely lucky to have Ms Wood as their Deputy Headteacher. Good luck to each and every student in the forthcoming exams. You have the greatest potential and ability – revise and prepare fully and you will all achieve great things over the next few months.
