Musician Robbie Boyd Anti-drugs talk
Tuesday, 23 April 2013 10:31
A MUSICIAN caught the attention of Spowston Community High School students with a special performance and a message to keep clear of drugs.
Robbie Boyd, who fronts The Robbie Boyd Band, visited Sprowston Community High School, to give an awareness talk on behalf of DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education).
His folk band has performed on ITV’s This Morning and is already in the top 20 of MTV’s Brand New Unsigned 2013 and will hopefully support the next Coldplay tour of South America this Autumn.

Robbie played songs and then talked to the students about the dangers of drugs and peer pressure while growing up, drawing on his own experiences. It was great for our students to have an important topic delivered by someone they related to. Robbie was a great visitor to school, spending lots of time after the performances chatting to students.

Year 11 inspired by British Explorer
Last Updated (Tuesday, 05 March 2013 09:46)
Year 11 were inspired and challenged by explorer George Bullard www.georgebullard.co.uk this morning in assembly. George has led groups in the Amazon, India, Arctic and Antarctic. He holds the world record for the longest unsupported polar expedition and is still only 23 years old. He spoke about his experiences and challenged the year group to sign up to an expedition with British Exploring http://www.britishexploring.org/ There was a massive buzz around the hall and lots of students were inspired enough to ask for more information. I hope that somone from the year group decides to follow in George's footsteps.
