Changes to the Kett Sixth Form Partnership

Dear Parents, Carers, Guardians and Students
We just wanted to write to you to outline some changes in relation to our involvement in The Kett Sixth Form partnership. This is an especially important time for our parents and students in Year 11 as they move into their Sixth Form provision and the next stage in their academic careers.
Over a period of time Governors have been considering having our own Sixth Form, which led to a period of consultation with Sprowston staff. At a meeting held by the full governing body on 11 July 2011, Governors voted in favour of a resolution: “ that we the Full Governing Body of Sprowston Community High School begin the process which will result in our withdrawal from The Kett Sixth Form College and the establishment of a Sixth Form at Sprowston Community High School. “ The aim is to have our own Sixth Form on our Sprowston site with our Sixth Form provision being geared towards this. This decision has not been taken lightly and has involved research and discussion.
We want to reassure parents with students in Year 11 that your son or daughter starting their courses in September will complete them through the Kett partnership by 31 August 2013. We will continue to ensure the best possible provision in those 2 years and we confirm our commitment to the partnership with Open Academy and Sewell Park College for those students too.
We will however be making changes, and our current Year 10 moving into Year 11 this September will be making their transition into the Sprowston Sixth Form from September 2012.
We have valued our relationship with The Kett over the years, and look forward to this continuing in the transition period.
Yours sincerely
Headteacher
Chair of Governors
