Preparation for your Placement PDF Print E-mail

First things first

Before you can get started on anything, you need to start thinking about what sort of placement would you to do. Do you want to be in an office? Working outdoors?  Helping people?  Interested in a career in teaching or working in construction?  These are just some examples of what other students have asked in previous years.  It's also important to take into account what you don't want to do in order to help you narrow down your search area.

Once you have an idea, it's time for you to start contacting employers.  Employers like students to make the initial contact so make sure you contact them and not your parents.

If you need help on how to contact employers either by phone or letter, then have a look at the getting started guide for more inspiration - Work Experience Getting Started Guide (pdf, 189Kb)

You also need to get your parent/carer/guardian to complete the consent form, and include any medical conditions that we need to know about. This is so we can ensure your safety whilst out on placement.

Failure to hand in this form, will lead you not being able to take part and therefore will be required to come into school and follow a timetable of lessons.

Where do I go?

All placements must be in Norfolk due to the need for visits and also the costs involved when undertaking the Health & Safety visits.

You might have an idea of where you want to go, but if you just want a few ideas or to see where previous students have gone, then click here to go to the 'Forms - Potentiial Employers' section of this website.
