'Haunted' by Aleesha Nabarro, Year 9
The ghostly chime of the ancient grandfather clock echoes down a distorted corridor, stalking the light pitter patter of feet scrambling for the moonlit doorway. The darting eyes of deceased portraits watch anxiously to see if the beast claims its next victim into its jaws. Moments later, a scream.
‘The Showdown’ by Tom Walpole, Year 8
A breeze. No matter. Both stood completely still, their stances like iron. Tension you could cut with the blades in their hands. The futures of their clans were at stake. Both held the hilt of their blades, ready to strike. Slash! A thin red line settles their fates. Thud. Stillness.
‘Penguin and the beast’ by Georgia Williams, Year 9
Waddling away furiously. Frightened of the beast hibernating in the deep foggy sea eager to feast on the blood-oozing penguin. Intimidating shadows lurking around the deep foggy sea. The beast furiously glides through the rocky waves smashing against its face. The cute cuddly penguin swims through, delighted, lucky, safe.
‘The Sprint’ by Curtis Wright, Year 9
They all line up ready to start, anxiously waiting for the gun to blow. A voice screams, “Get ready. Set. Go!” They all pounce off the floor and start sprinting down the track. Neck and neck until one runner reaches maximum speed and smashes violently through the red finish line.
'The Wait’ by Stan Clarke, Year 8

Fear drenched and suffocated my petrified mind. The door slowly groaned open. Light drowned my eyes. “We’re ready for you, Master Parker,” squealed the deadly dentist.
