Big thanks to Ms Thurlow for organising the Year 10 Leisure & Tourism trip down to London. Once again thanks to Mrs Cunningham for also supporting the group on the trip. The main aspect of the trip was to see Madame Tussauds in action and how it worked as a thriving tourist attraction!
The 9th, 10th & 11th December 2009 saw the Sprowston Community High School Christmas Play. Hundreds of local people kick started the festive season by joining us for this huge Christmas extravaganza of song, dance and drama. Thanks to Mark Cotter for the photos.
Thanks to Toby Barrett for taking these photos from the final rehearsal of our Christmas performance 2009. Have you bought your ticket yet?
On Wednesday 2nd December year 10 BTEC Performing Arts and year 12 & 13 performance studies students attended a Chicago Workshop. Pupils were taught \"All that Jazz\" a Fosse routine from the musical by the Dance Captain, Rebecca who has danced in a number of West End productions and is now a Choreographer.
Later on that evening students attended the performance of the musical at the Norwich Theatre Royal. The show was amazing and the students behaviour and attitude throughout the day was a credit to the school
Imagery from rehearsals for the school production of Mr Quentin\'s Revenge. Photos taken by Toby Barrett - many thanks.
\"Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later\"
At the start of the school year, the Year 7 students were invited to decorate their form\'s noticeboard under the theme of \'Harvest\'. The rules were simple, anybody in the form could take part and all materials had to be sourced by the students themselves. The result as you can see for yourself from the pictures are an oustanding credit to the artistic skills of our year 7 cohort. Using a variety of materials including paper, wood, leaves, hay, grass and a real pumpkin, the pupils have created their very own works of art.
The winning entiries were:
- 1st 7 RJ
- 2nd 7 HA
- 3rd 7 TH
With special mention to 7DI for their good looking tractor driver!
Here are some of the images from the Year 9 Rounders Interform competition which took place during tjhe recent activities week. Despite poor weather during the day the students all worked extremely hard and great time was had by all.
The Oli Brown Band, whose international reputation is rapidly increasing, performed a special gig for Year 10 at Sprowston Community High School last Thursday as part of the school\'s Activity Week. A great time was had by all.
On a scorching Wednesday afternoon, the allotment club members harvested their potatoes. It was great fun and produced a bumper crop. Earlier in the year the students had suggested we sell the potatoes to raise money for charity. Their chosen charity was the Big C Centre at the hospital, which provides information and support for families affected by cancer. This was the inspiration for Sprowston Spuds.
The potatoes were carefully weighed, packaged and sold within the school community raising a total of £41. Marcus A. (Year 7) who was responsible for marketing said, It has been great fun because I love gardening - it has been a great experience for me. The feedback from those who bought potatoes has been overwhelmingly positive, they were delicious!
We hope the children will develop a lifelong love of gardening and we are proud that they have used their newly learnt skills to benefit others.
We plan to build on this success and make it an annual event.
