The Olympic Torch by Year 8 and 9 students, is the third and final sculpture of the series of 3 art-works created by students to celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games. The torch symbolises the three themes of the Olympic Spirit; Friendship, Unity and Peace. Working with their art teacher and artist Maggie Campbell, the students created the giant torch out of circles made from willow which they covered with their black and white prints of  Olympic symbols. The students worked really hard to finish the sculpture in one day. In response to what they enjoyed the most, student said;

"I enjoyed the working with willow as it involved hand/eye co-ordination"

"The glue, where you stick the tissue on"

"Shaping and bending the willow"

"Printing because it was something that you could do even if you are not great at art"

"I enjoyed every bit of it because it was fun and interesting to work with other people"

"I enjoyed making the Olympic Torch because its like the most important one"
