Activity Funding for Sprowston Cluster
As you may already know the Sprowston Cluster of schools has received a significant grant which means that we are in a position to support individual children with funding, to allow them to take part in activities run in the Cluster and also Holiday Club activities run by providers, locally, within Norfolk and even nationally. This grant has a wide scope; however its main purpose is to make sure that no child misses out on taking part in activities because of economic disadvantage.
Over the forthcoming term we will be looking at what clubs and opportunities are already on offer and talk to all children about what other activities they would like to see being offered in the local area, which can be funded with monies from this grant. We will also be offering grants to individual students to allow them to participate in extra-curricular activities.
Norfolk Children’s Services have agreed which groups of children who may be able to benefit from this extra support to allow them to take part in activities both in their school and in the local community.
The groups have been identified as:
- Those children and young people who are experiencing difficult family issues, such as bereavement, living with family members other than parents, parents with physical or mental health problems or disability, domestic violence and parents in custody or with debt problems.
- Looked after children.
- Children who are disadvantaged and disengaged from the school/education system.
- Families disadvantaged by transport issues e.g. rurality.
- Economically disadvantaged children with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (including Special Educational Needs) (SEN)
- Young carers.
- Children of young parents.
- Families in temporary/poor accommodation.
- Migrant communities/travellers and those with English as an Additional Language (EAL).
- Children and young people with Free School Meal entitlement (FSM).
- Refugee or asylum seeker children.
- There is a final group – which we have defined as “Other” disadvantaged children at the discretion of the Headteacher.
If you think you would like to take advantage of this grant, please contact the school office for an application form.
