Fusion - Sprowston Community Film Festival 2010

Our Specialist Performance Art and Media status enables us to support identified partner schools and community partners in their creation of films for the Sprowston Community Film Festival. This year we were keen to expand the learning for the young people involved in the partner school projects, so each of these projects fused the art of filmmaking with a wider learning aim that the children explored. Details the films that each of these projects inspired can be found below:
Woodland View Junior: 'The Water Cycle' - film maker: David Lloyd
Woodland view used their Fusion Project to improve achievement in Science. The children involved in the project used animation to learn about the water cycle and created a film that can be used to inspire other pupils.
Sprowston Junior: '3...2...1...Action' - film maker: Robert Vaughan
A light hearted, film guide to taking better photos. The children at Sprowston Junior learned all about photography and how to take interesting pictures then decided to use their newly learned skills to make a film guide for other children. They successfully brought two creative mediums together to work as one.
White Woman Lane: 'The Magic Fossil (Gorillas in love)' - film maker: Robert Vaughan
The children here took on the task of turning a piece of creative writing into a short film illustrated in a similar way to a children’s book. After learning loads about writing, the children painted some wonderful illustrations which became the centrepiece of their film.
Falcon: '3D Stories'- film maker: Robert Vaughan
Falcon decided to mix together 3d modelling with writing to see if either medium could influence the other and improve the final product. This is a documentary style film showing the project from start to finish... with some very interesting results.
Hall School: 'Teamwork'- film maker: Robert Vaughan
A short film showing the children of Badger class working together in many different ways. The film shows how by mixing together different abilities and talents, great results can follow.
Sprowston Heritage: 'Coming Together' - film maker: David Lloyd
Our community partners this year chose to explore the meaning of the word fusion and what it meant to them within the context of Sprowston community. The final film is an eclectic “coming together “of all they discovered. The lead community members involved in the creation of this years film were: John Mason, Ken Jones, John Poynter and Peter Sneddon.
