Set during the last years of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts on 46th Street, Fame - The Musical is a bittersweet but ultimately inspiring story of a diverse group of students as they commit to four years of gruelling artistic and academic work.
Romances and friendships develop as the story makes a social statement especially relevant to today's youth.
With electric dance routines and unforgettable songs, Fame is a breathtaking journey that is sure to 'light up the sky like a flame'.
The musical will be performed in early December
Auditions
All the main parts have to be able to act, sing and dance a little (unless dancer in musical). You need to make sure you attend all sections of the auditions, if you wish to be considered for a main part:
- Tues 6 July (Singing & acting)
- Wed 7 July (Singing & acting)
- Thurs 8 July (Singing, acting + dancing)
- Fri 9 July (backup/decision)
You will need to have your own song prepared to perform (with or without backing); you will have a song taught to you (boys/girls song), you will learn and perform the monologue (.PDF, 14 Kb) given to you and also act out a short script given in the audition. You will also learn a short easy dance routine (Thurs only).
If you are unable to make these dates, due to holidays or participation in school trips abroad, the alternative date is Tuesday 22nd June after school.
Chorus auditions will be after summer.
