School Life

A full range of activities are available during the lunch break and after school. These include sports and drama clubs, study workshops, music groups and so on. Pupils are encouraged to make use of such activities.

Medical

Parents will be asked at the beginning of the school year to provide information about medical conditions which may affect a child's well-being in school, and at least one emergency contact number. Medication will not be given to pupils without specific parental consent.

In an emergency, the emergency contact will be telephoned. If contact cannot be made, a senior member, in consultation with a local doctor or the hospital, will take action as appropriate.

This school is committed to promoting the health and welfare of all pupils. We are required, by law, to follow procedures laid down by the Norfolk Area Child Protection Committee if we see signs which suggest that one of our pupils may have been a victim of abuse. Use of the procedures in this way is an obligation placed on the school by legislation and in no way infers that any parent/carer is being accused of wrong doing.

Lunchtime Arrangements

School Lunch

An increasingly popular and high quality cafeteria service is provided on a 'pay-as-you-take ' basis. A wide choice is available ranging from a full three-course meal to snacks.

Enquiries about entitlement to free school meals should be made to the Director of Children's Services. The school is anxious to support parents in registering their entitlement whether or not a meal is to be taken. Registration of entitlement not only ensures family rights but indirectly helps the school.

Packed Lunch

Pupils may bring a packed lunch to school. This must be eaten in an approved area or outside the buildings in order to assist the school in maintaining a healthy and pleasant environment.

Remaining on the premises

All pupils are expected to remain on the school premises during lunchtime. A list of lunch time activities is published each September.

Transport

Decisions about entitlement to free school transport are made by Norfolk Children's Services and not by the school. Behaviour on school buses is a matter in which the school takes a particular interest: indiscipline on buses will be dealt with as a serious matter and may lead to the County Education Department refusing perpetrators access to free transport.

Pupils may bring cycles to school. Padlocks should always be used, as the school cannot accept any responsibility for the safety of cycles. All cycles must be stored in the cycle compound provided. The school cannot guarantee the safety of bicycles.
